  • Removed Throttle cable from Hot Foot

I took the throttle cable from my Hot Foot and repositioned it back into the remote control (703).
Now it does not appear to have any type of throttle return spring.
I've looked through the remote physically and the exploded drawings along with on the engine but am still at a loss.
The Hot foot had a strong spring on it to return the cable to idle. (at least it appeared to )
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Motor is 1992 P200TLRQ Yamaha

    difference in aftermarket and original.
the hot foot had no mechanical means of returning to idle. other than a big heavy spring.

the 703 box uses a mechanical lever to retract the cable back to idle.
on the front of the 703 box is slotted screw about the size of a pencil eraser, that's for throttle tension to keep the throttle from creeping back while cruising.

In other words, there is no throttle return spring for a 703, 704... control box.

The throttle (if adjusted correctly) will maintain the throttle setting at which you placed it. You have to take a positive action (pull back on the throttle handle) to reduce the power.

Yeah, I figure that just a little bit ago when I found some slop in my cable.
Worked that out and it's working great now.
        Thank you for the replies.
        Love this forum.
I've found lots of information on here, this is just the first time I've had a question I couldn't find answer to.
