help identifying 40jm

had a customer bring in a motor we cant ID.
model number 40jm.
seriel 6j4L311439.
appears to be late 70's or early 80's non US market.

Looks to be a 1994 model year motor.

I can't find a US equivalent model. Equivalent to a Canadian E40MLHS/T/U/V/W however.

More than likely most of the stuff on a USA 40MLHS will work.

Mr. Almetelo, do you have a parts book and/or service manual for his particular model?

Just wondering if the 2003 listed at the last page means anything about year of motor?

The manual provided covers a 2004 model year motor. Thus the 2003 publication date.

I am presuming that he did not have a manual for a 1994 model E40 and provided what was available.

For the most part it should work. There is always some risk however.

A good master tech should be able to sort it all out.

Boscoe and almetto are about spot on, as usual.

this motor is 80 miles from me, its down on hatteres island.

but now I know which US model will fit.

its about a c40 in the 90-94 range.

Just found 2004 and 2002 parts manual on my data.

For sure will work, just should have lastest updates on parts and depending on the year diferent colours.

Searching parts # on boats.net or googling it for sure you'll find what you may need.

Donīt have SM for this one but for sure you wont need it.
