What blind mounting holes?
Where are these holes of which you speak located? -
There are holes drilled and tapped, one on each clamp bracket. They are often used on boats like 17' whalers, where the splash well is not deep enough to allow use of the lower B.I.A. holes to mount the engine.Comment

How do they work? I am somewhat familiar with Yamaha's but don't recall seeing a threaded blind hole.
On my own boat the splash well was between the upper mounting bolts and the lower mounting bolts. Access to the nuts for the lower mounting bolts was gained through a deck hatch.Comment

Boating industry assoc, if you look at the clamp photo you can see the rectangular boss for the hole. The builder of my boat was either too cheap to cut in a hatch, or he didn't trust them. My deck is self bailing but often covered with water.Comment

I remember its the standard 12mm bolt Yamaha used and still uses.
how deep it is, who knows.
that is all 20+ year old stuff.
some of which I was playing on gray boats not play boats.
but it is the same thread pitch and diameter as the standerd mounting bolt.Comment

m12, 1.25 doesn't look like Mcmaster carr has it in stainless.Comment
