Any alternator will work on any truck. Black, blue, red, brown, it does not matter.

mistake on answer

Looks like livinglinelife thinks I am asking about an alternator. I am putting a 2006 4 hp 4 stroke model f4MLH outboard back togather has been taken apart and I am installing a new cylinder, when installing the crankshaft I need to know where the marks are on the cam are, I see the mark on the gear but I don't see any marks on the cam except a parting line but that is on both sides.

The camshaft driven gear should have a dot on it. The crankshaft drive gear should have a dot on it. The camshaft is properly timed to the crankshaft when the dots are opposite each other.

You really need to have the applicable service manual.

No, he wasn't.

Its just that folks don't post a model # for their engines a good part of the time and its usually needed.

Ie; I need an alternator for a truck... Model, year, etc???
