  • 96 OX66 225HP Lower Unit Fluid?

    How much and what weight gear oil for my ox66? I am going to change the fluid in my lower unit b/c mechanic forgot to last time I had it in shop.

    Any specified Marine 80-90 Wt. Lower Unit Lubricant....pump into drain plug hole until it comes out the top/vent plug hole.....replace top/vent plug screw, then replace the drain plug screw....good to go!....

      Mine takes just over a quart, not sure about yours but I'd pick up another quart.

      Just make sure the engine is level when topping off, (I put a level on the horizontal part((forgot the name)) of the lower unit..

          Walmart carries those hand pumps for about $7....

            Look for any sings of water in the old oil, this could save you a lot when u compair a couple of seals to a lower unit.

              Already have one; not my first time changing lower unit oil, just first time on this engine. I just wanted to make sure that I was going to have enough gear oil on hand when I started. Thanks again guys.
