Hi Guys i have just purchases an old but in excellent condition 1987 yamaha 9.9 high trust 4 stroke outboard for my 23 foot trailer sailer my question is about charging the battery,it appears to have a power coil to do this which would be the green wires?do i need to use a rectifier or is their one in place also if the green wire is power where do i run the negative from.
    thanks in advance

The complete model identity of the motor is needed.

Unless you want us to guess at what you might need. But then we could guess wrong. At your peril.

Green wires coming from under the flywheel should be from the lighting coil. Where do those wires go on your model?

If they don't go anywhere you will need to install a rectifier to convert the AC voltage to DC voltage.

If they go to a component it would be a rectifier/regulator. Wires from the R/R connect to the battery.

            One correction is needed.

That is just a rectifier. It does not regulate voltage.
