  • 05 2 stroke red lever position

Can anyone tell me the normal position for the red lever on right side of carb intakes? It is a T shaped lever with open/closed positions. It is not clear which end of the T should be considered the pointer.

Main problem is no fuel is flowing into throat on #2 carb. Runs about half power as I would expect with no fuel to a carb. Also looking for suggestions to get fuel flowing.

Im a new member and any help will be appreciated

There are many two stroke models that Yamaha offered in 2005?

They don't all operate the same?

What is the specific and complete model identity of your motor?

I am familiar with a red lever used on certain Yamaha models in the event the automatic fuel enrichment function fails but have never seen it in a T configuration.

The information you need should all be contained within your owner's manual. www.yamahaoutboards.com

Thanks boscoe 99. I found the diagram in the manual and instructions in Trouble Recovery. This is exactly like my set up. Not sure of model as engine is 90 miles away.

Any insight on fuel flow to #2 carb would be appreciated.

      Thanks again.

Float needle may be stuck on that carb....maybe remove the drain plug and pump primer bulb to try to get some flow there....otherwise may have to remove that carb for cleaning/servicing...

I'm 90 miles away from engine but..... yesterday I did remove plug and fuel drained out, did not pump bulb to check while plug was out. When running at moderate speed with breather cover off I could visibly see spray into #1 and #3. Carb removal looks pretty easy after removing metal bracing that connects all three at their faces. Looks like carb should disconnect with the long bolts out and after removing a gas line or two. Any thoughts will appreciated.

My thoughts are that more than likely a carburetor is clogged. If one is clogged the others might be somewhat dirty, with all needing to be cleaned as well.

If I were you I would find an experienced mechanic who could tutor you in the removal of the carburetors, disassembly and cleaning in a heated ultrasonic cleaner, reassembly and reinstallation of the carburetors followed by synchronization of same using a vacummate device.

Don't go thinking that you can spray some magic stuff down the throat of one of these carburetors and that life will be well. It won't.

OK thanks. There is a pretty good mechanic nearby.
