My 85 2 stroke yahama outboard starts and runs great but when I go over half throttle it starts choking. Any suggestions what the problem may be?
Thank you
No they haven't been cleaned.
I was considering changing for a bigger jet, what is your opinion on that? Do you know if it would increase the power? It's on an 18ft sea ray, would be nice to have a little bit more
Thanks
If carbs are cleaned and set right you may notice better power....no need or advantage to change the jets. Consider installing a fuel/water seperater type filter on the transom to help remove water and trash before they reach carbs/jets. Walmart/Attwood sells a unit for $28....not much trouble to install and helps keep carbs clean.

If more fuel is added then more air has to get there too. Just putting more fuel in causes too rich of a fuel/air mix. The motor was engineered to run the was it was set up from the factory, just clean and run it.
