07 yamaha 60 hp Fourstroke

First i would like to say hello this is my first post.
The problem im having is the motor does not rev more than about 4200rpm. i use to get about 5000-5200 rpm. It starts and idles fine and throttles up to 4200 just will not go any higher. the fuel/water seperator in new. i just put in new plugs and fuel filter and still runs the same.

A complete model # will be needed so everyone knows exactly what motor you have.

Being a 4 stroke it should have been turning 6000 at WOT or close to that. Sounds like you have it propped wrong or some other rigging problem. Maybe under powered for the rig you have it on.
More info will be needed on all of the rig.

Have checked to see if motor cylinders are sealing properly?( compression or better a leakdown test)

model #T60TLR 0406 the motor is on a 18' pointer.

Sounds like you have it propped wrong

Have you tried unplugging it from the wall for 60 seconds and then plugging it back in?

See if you can find a rig close to what you are running to see what prop and performance they got from it.

Sounds like you have installed and extra inline filter, what micron filter is it and the water separator. Could be there is too much restriction, fuel pump is failing, or sucking air

the motor ran great till about two weeks ago. i have owned the boat for 3 seasons never a problem. the 5200rpm was just a estimate it may have been higher. i really never ran the boat full throttle much. i know i got 31 mph on for a top speed on my gps and now im barely getting 20. i also recently replaced the regulater/rectifier because it was not charging the battery. Unpugging it from the wall what does that mean???

Sounds like you're losing power on one cylinder....run the motor up the river wide open for a minute then pull each spark lug taking note of color/carbon/etc....may help you identify cylinder that's not firing/working....could be a dirty carb jet on that cylinder or a fouled spark plug or other problem...

thanks for all the help so far. i just installed new plugs and the problem was still there. it is a fuel injected motor. im going to try and compression test the motor. the old plugs all looked the same a little tint of brown.

I had the same problem with a f115 and after reading a bunch of posts on here I cleaned the vst along with a new vst filter. I also bought cleaned rebuilt injectors. These repairs only took a couple hours and it did the trick. Engine runs perfect. Try the injectors first. They were only about $75 and took all of 10 minutes to install.

Where is the vst and vst filter located on the motor. Is this somthing I could do my self. Is there any special tools needed to remove the vst or the injectors.

No special tools. You could do the vst job with about 3 different sockets and a phillips head screw driver. I am not sure of your skills but the injector job is very simple. Lots of videos on youtube that document the jobs and some of the guys doing it do not look that skilled with a tool in hand. Try the injectors first to see how you do. If you struggle with the injector job, do not try vst job. VST is located behind the intake manifold aft of the throttle bodies. If you can't locate the VST you should pay someone to do it. i feel comfortable removing the injectors. should i replace them with new injectors or have them rebuilt. could anyone recommend a shop that does this?

No reason to buy new if the existing injectors just need a good cleaning. $150 for new versus about 25 bucks for servicing.

your injectors are the problem
make sure when you remove injectors then you depressurize it other wise you will have fuel spraying into your eyes
take the injectors to any auto shop who cleans injectors and get it cleaned after
install them properly with new seals
the problem should go away
if it dosent get back on line
but guranteed it is the problem
