Greetings,
New Poster here....
I've owned a Yamaha 15MSH for several years now and am very pleased with it.
However, there are two issues that are cause for concern.
The first has been a problem since the day I bought it and although not "serious"...I am curious if other members have experienced this and what they may have done to address it.
After *****ing around a lake for half an hour or so, I decide to move to another location. When I give her gas to take off (after bringing all the tackle in) she will take off like a rocket, but then will stutter and hesitate for a second or two...then will take off at full speed. At first I though this might be a carbon buildup on the plugs, but this even happens when I use the NGK plugs without electrodes.
The second issue happened just two weeks ago and ruined our holiday. We were staying at a large lake in the BC Interior and decided to take a run to the far end (12 miles away) to try some fishing there.
After *****ing a few weed beds, we took off and a few minutes later the engine started to surge...almost as if it were running out of fuel.
I changed the plugs and used a spare gas line, but a day or two later, this problem re-appeared. If I run at about 3/4 throttle, there isn't a problem, but if I go to full throttle, she would start to surge again.
Note: This doesn't happen every time either!
On a related issue, should the priming bulb be hard and full of fuel at all times, or does it "deflate" while running? I noticed BOTH conditions during the week, and did not seem to correspond with engine troubles.
