6y5 gauges - when first supplied?

I’m looking buying at a 130yamaha 2stroke. Claimed 1997 claimed low hours based on hours shown on 6y5 gauge. From memory 6y5 may not have been available new with this motor in 1997. Anyone on here know when the round 6y5 was first available?

I presume that you are asking about the 6Y5 digital display multi-function tachometer. It goes back to at least the early 1990's. In 1993 the version with round connectors was changed so that square connectors were used.

Do you doubt the hours?
Remember 20 years can do a lot more damage than the actual runtime.

Yes, was referring to the digital tach. For some reason I thought that was a early 200's invention.
