Bent prop shaft

Don't bust a gut laughing, it's the first time this has happened!
Wife wanted to go fishing, which is odd, usually fish alone.
Anyways Have a camp close to the ramp, I back boat in water till it
floats a little, unhook winch an back off, wife parks truck.
She gets in an I hammer down an all kind of noise comes from the lower
unit, take it out of gear, idles fine, put it in forward an sounds like gears about to
fly out again. Try it a third time, everything is fine
Make a small circle getting boat on plane, sounds great, no noise
no vibrating, sounds an acts like it always has.
Tell the wife her joy ride is over, because that wasn't right.
When I was putting boat on trailer, I thought to myself,
You didn't take the transom saver off, it was still bungee corded
around lower unit, other side just rest on roller on trailer.
It's a 2003 pro v150
Prop shaft runs out around .060 by eye
I didn't an haven't ran it any, no I'll need a new shaft,
Can y'all give me a ball park figure if I put it in shop about what it will be.
Assuming the shaft is all that needs replaced. An water pump since it will be apart.
Never had any problems out of this motor, other than fuel pumps,
It's been a great motor

that job takes about 3 hours plus some seals and the shaft.
seals maybe 45 bucks, 60 or so for a pump kit. then is there prop damage?
dunno about the shaft, probly around 260 or so.

I confess - I did laugh. But if it makes you feel any better I have a camp and there is a pay launch a bit up the Bayou. I've watched the unthinkable be done so many times I could write a book. Last year I watched a guy launch his boat and about 30 seconds later launch his work van (electrical contractor)with all of his tools in the Bayou. Watched so many people who don't understand you dock your boat against the tide, I've seen $40K boats get all the hell beat up. The launch has a drop off and I've seen so many stuck trailers going off the ledge.
Get it fixed and chalk it up as something you won't do again!!

I launched my boss's 18ft work boat at Norfolk yacht and country club some years back.
parked the trailer walked back down to the boat.
my helper was in the boat and asked me,"where is all this water coming from" as I was looking at the drain plug on the middle seat.

Or should I just put it in shop, an it so what's a ball park figure
the shop would charge.
Very little damage to the prop, itself. I can clean that up

take the lower unit to a shop with a master tech.
takes about 3 hours and they will have it done.

In other words what he is saying is you need special tools and knowledge to do the job.
Cost depends on what they charge per hour, Rod already gave a ballpark on parts and hours. So talk to the shop you plan on taking it to to see what they will charge you

I was quoted $350 for seals and labor in MA. So add the cost of a shaft too

our billing rate is 90/hr.
seals are about 40 or so.
pump kit is about 60
3 hours set ya back about 270.
shaft, don't really know.
I am a tech and you don't understand.
it aint my money.
