Orange light appears on my dual power shifter

When I start the port side motor the motor will fire up but will not engage. It will go in reverse but soon as I try to put it into gear going forward the orange light appears under the blue light for the port motor. Yamaha software says it is Code 165. Could it be the sensor inside the dual shifter box??

Too bad we don't know the model of the motors or the model of the control box.

The model of the motor is 2008 YAMAHA LF350TXR. The model number for the dual binnacle is Yamaha 6x6 B 0502295. I hope that helps.

Code 165 indicates a remote control system malfunction. Specifically the LPS (Lever Position Sensor). Which correlates with the yellow alert light being illuminated.
