1999 Yam 115 two stroke sea trial

Looking at a '99 115 Yammie on a Scout 187 tomorrow. I've owned a 70 and still own a 90 and like them a lot.
Any suggestions as to what to watch for? I've heard this is a real good engine, pretty much bullet proof.

make sure it will run at higher RPM for a while without over heating, do the usual checks for compression, gear oil, and a general look for signs of rust/corrosion, other than that, just hope for the best, second hand is second hand, I dont hold much faith in terms like "bullet proof".

I bought a 01 Yamaha 115 2 stroke about a yr ago, its had an overheating problem, and at times it would run terrible, water pump corrected overheat issue, but the bad running has been an ongoing issue, I think the carbs being screwed up was the other issue. the boat would run good for a few trips and all of sudden it acted like it was losing fire or not enough fuel, since carb flooding was fixed it has ran good nock on wood
