Speedometer to Tachometer wiring for '92 Outboard/Controls

I am trying to re-install my 2 digital gauges (speed/fuel & tach) and having difficulty making wiring connections. I am running color to color and simply plugging the harnesses back in on the tach. However, I am left over with a white wire from my speedo, along with a blue wire just hanging in the console (which may have always been there.) Seems my current result is the fuel gauge showing only one bar - when I know I have more fuel in tank, and the trim displays that the motor is trimmed all the way up. So I must have something crossed. Can anyone advise as to what I may be doing wrong and/or provide a specific wiring diagram that I could follow.

Boscoe will likely post a wiring diagram

blue on the Yamaha gauge harness is for power to the gauge backlights -
sometimes that is tied into the boat's running lights,
or plugged into the Yamaha yellow, so it is on whenever the gauges are on

white from the speedometer goes to the fuel tank sender

Seems I have just about everything hooked up correctly. I blew a 30amp fuse during the switch somehow and replaced that as well. However, my only issue now is that my digital trim gauge is reading all the way up. I left the pink wire disconnected as there was a tab located on my new (to me) tachometer gauge that directed to do so for earlier models. Can either of you guys advise to my trim gauge issue?

Boscoe will know for sure;
but I'm guessing you may just need to change the dip switches
which are located under a rubber plug on the back of the tach:
engines prior to 2001 used a 3-wire trim sender
if that's what you have, the gauge may be set for 2-wire.

Also while you are looking at the dips,
check that it is set for 2-stroke, not 4

Thanks for this. I checked and made the appropriate adjustments. However, now the trim gauge reads all the way down. I suppose I have another wire crossed, but I can't determine which one. All seems to be connected correctly.

The trim sender on engine is probably faulty anyway i think theyre known for it

If you haven't already checked,
the most common cause for a trim gauge reading all the way down,
is that then trim position sender is, in fact, all the way down.

The engine bracket forcibly drives it down,
but a spring around the sensor 'arm' should return it up.

Often the 'arm' requires some 'physical therapy'
and cleaning/lubrication to get moving freely again
