  • Temperature gauge 2 stroke 90AETO?

    Hi guys,
This is my first post so hello one and all, looks like this is a great place to get some good advice.
I just purchased a 2005 90AETO, it came with round digital tacho and speed gauge. It looks as though the only temperature indication is the small bar that blinks if you're running too hot, please correct me if i'm wrong as this is my first yammy 2 stroke . My question is this, can i install a temperature gauge, analogue or digital, i don't mind which, that will use existing wiring / harness / sensor or do i need to install a sensor somewhere in the block or cooling system?
I like to know where my motor runs normally so i can investigate any deviation from the norm BEFORE i get a buzzer and cut back to 2000 rpm,

Cheers from a newbie, many more posts to follow more than likey,

    Mr Happy ;-)

You will need to install a standalone Yamaha gauge. That gauge requires a sender that gets installed into the block. The gauge of course requires 12 volt power and a ground.

I thought that might be the case, is there a pre drilled hole for the sensor and do i use the existing wiring harness?

Yes, there is a port in the block into which the sensor is threaded. The sensor has a wire harness that runs to the gauge.

          Cheers Boscoe,
Would i just have to pick gauge and sensor up from a yamaha dealer?
