Need info on Maintenance Meter For 4-Sroke Outboards

I've seen the "Maintenance Meter" For 4-Sroke Outboards discussed and I've seen it in the parts list but I'm not sure what it does or where it connects and mounts.

It is part# ENG-METER-4C-02. You can see it at the bottom of the page at this URL:

Various descriptions say it warns that service is due at 10 hours then evey 100 hrs. and that it also has a tach. function.
There doesn't seem to be a switch or anything I can see to switch be**** hours and RPM so
1. how do you change from hrs to RPM?
2. Is this a dash mount meter or does it mount on the motor?
3. what does it connect to?

Connect the green, yellow,black wire to green, yellow, black wire in gauge harness that connects to key switch. The meter displays operating hours and RPM's.
