Can you take a look at a post I made for a guy and tell me if it makes sense to you?

The SM for his manual was not clear to me. I borrowed a procedure from a later 40 HP SM that I am hoping should work for his model.

It looks good for my 1999 but I have no idea if that is true for the 1988 with magneto lever that changes the timing under the flywheel.

aligning the marks like that should get close to the proper timing, but needs to be checked with a timing light and fine tuned as needed while motor is running.

my idle timing was off even with the pointer aligned to the mark.
I had to replace the CDI to fix it
