Ok. 1991 225TXRP getting the full tune up treatment as it's been offline for a few years. We changed the lower unit oil (no pressure test, yet) and took it for a spin...found milky fluid in it. So my buddy says let's do the prop seal.
The issue is (if you saw my other posts) we don't have the correct lower unit for the 225TXRP...it was suggested it may be for the V4. As mentioned we pulled the unit and looked for numbers to determine the lower unit but cannot find ANYTHING on the inside of that lower unit...nothing, nada...no how.
I'm curious if we don't have the correct 225TXRP lower unit and it was suggested it's a V4 unit then...could it be anything else other then the V4?
Can anyone give me insight to how common/similar the lower unit seals are across models? We may actually find a Yamaha tech in our area and try to get this done this week so we don't make a mistake as the boat needs to be in the water the first of next week but any suggestions for a DIY would be appreciated.
