1988 4hp ...steam

Was pumping fine then only steam out pee hole. Figured impeller shot....pulled apart and impeller like new. Thermostat?
Any ideas? Maybe it was just something on the intake.....

Seems entire exhaust cover has to be pulled in order to change thermostat. Afraid bolts will snap....poor design...I say

Lots of penetrating oil, go slow, heat gun or torch to any bolt not co-operating... Go slow and don't "push" any bolts not co-operating.

All engines are bolted together, salt and water with aluminum and steel is a bad mix but there's no other option.

You know what you have to do, I wouldn't have at it with an air gun...


Probably hasn't been checked changed in a long time. If it has, better for you (for dis-assembly)!
