my outboard runs fine to about 3800rpm all day if you go over 4100 the motor runs for a minute or so and then drops to about 1500-2000rpm & stars surging which makes me think it is fuel ,I have installed an externel electric fuel pump & disconected the ppump on the motor & also the fuel filter this seems to have helped but not fixed my problem what size fuel hose should i have & how can i set the float levels in the carbies, these are the only thing left i can think of any help would be appreciated thanks

paul,
Check the fuel tank to see if it has an anti-siphon valve on the hose right at the connector.
Sometimes this valve gets stuck and will not open up enough to deliver fuel to the motor at high speeds. You may can clean it out, or just replace it entirely, or some owners just eliminate them.
Good luck ,
