  • Cannot put into fwd or rev. C60

Replaced the impeller, thermostat, etc. last week and put the lower unit back on. Put it the hose and idled like a champ. Put it in the lake and it wouldn't go into gear. I obviously pulled an amateur move somewhere. Please help.
    Thanks in advance,
    Rey

Pull the LU off and make sure your shift rod is in place. Happens often

      All too often.

In the future reinstall the lower unit and use just one bolt to hold it in place. Maybe two. Start the motor on flush muffs. Check forward, neutral and reverse. If all is well install the rest of the hardware. If not, drop the lower and make sure the shift shaft interfaces properly with the shift rod. That is the time to find out if something is amiss. Not after traveling many miles to a lake and having no tools with you.

Thank you for the responses. I'm hoping that's all that I need to do. I know I"m going to sound ignorant, but does anybody have a pic of what exactly I'm looking for in there to make sure is in place? This was my first time dropping and replacing a lower unit for a DIY project. Any help would be appreciated.
