  • Removing pistons

I have a 2004 25 hp 2 cylinder 2 stoke. Bad oil caused the cylinder wall #1 to be scored badly.
I am trying to remove piston to replace and hone cylinder wall. Do I need to take the flywheel/magneto off the get the block apart. Seems like I shouldn't, but it will not come apart.

I'd assume the magic that makes electricity under the flywheel is holding it together.

powerhead removed, flywheel, and stator ,on some upper seal holder, lower seal holder, intake manifold and crankcase and main bearing bolts and any drain hoses then the crankcase will split.
then the crank, rods and pistons can be removed as an assy.
scored cyl is typically a fuel or overheat issue.
oil issues tend to wipe out rod and crank bearings.
