Fuel sending unit on portable tank?

Anyone know if it's possible to hook up a fuel sending unit on a Yamaha 6.5 gallon fuel tank? seems like it would be easy enough of a thing to do, but I really would rather not start cutting holes in it if there is one that can be installed in the usual fill/gauge hole.

No there isn't a elect. sender available for it just the site gauge on fuel cap.
