this is what Mercury provided -
in a nice little plastic pouch, on the inside of the cowling,
of their 2006 four stroke 90 hp
    (which was an F90)

I knew better than to try it in 2006 -
nowadays I would permanently destroy my arm & shoulder...

I saw Mercury showed that same rope for a 225hp motor

I bet if someone were 30, 40 miles at sea, no radio on board, with storms around, night closing in, adrenaline would let them do a lot more than they could do back on shore.

My Mercury 175 EFI came with a starter rope.

I found a Yam 225 owners manual that addresses pull starting the motor in case the stater motor won't.

The Yam F90 OM also depicts starting the motor with a pull cord. Not sure if it comes with one or not. Seems that it should but ...

Looking at the flywheel pic of my F150, there's no notch for a pull starter cord / knot..

well looks like the OP needs to look to see if his 90 has a place to hook the cord to.

maybe if you have a long enough cord you could hook up more than one handle so you could have more than on guy pulling if there is more than one person in the boat.
then hope they can pull at the exact same time without hurting them selves or falling overboard

He does, part #1, the flywheel. You can see the cut out in the edge:

I think it would take a mans man to pull start an F90. Maybe wrap a cord around ones waist. Plenty of slack. Then run like hell to the bow.

Many many manual start F25 owner's are looking for a way to install an electric starting motor.

was that because you did not want to fix the electric start?

do you have towing insurance up there on the lakes?
seems that is popular down on the saltwater.

use to the coast guard would tow someone in fro off shore many years ago,
but now a days you best have a policy or you will be paying big bucks to get towed in.
Coast guard will bring people in but not boats.

On my small bay boats I never bought into a policy, only had to be towed in once when the power pack on my 35 evenruid took a dump.
the guy that towed me in pulled me faster than that boat of mine had ever gone on the water before.
I dropped the motor back down so I could keep it inside his wake running down the intercoastal

No need, we have kicker motors and a *****ing motor.
