I have a 2004 Yamaha 75 hp tiller. once every 10-15 times I try to start my motor I get nothing, no click, no turn over nothing. then I proceed to cycle the gear shift from forward to reverse and neutral several times, then twist the throttle position back and forth to the start position. sometimes it will work and other times it will take 10 mins of messing around to get it to go. I had the starter tested and checked all the wiring connections and all checks out okay. where do I start in replacing things if needed. what function does the throttle position sensor on the throttle cable perform? would this cause a ignition lock out if not in the right position. What does the ignition safety circuit consist of. thank you for reading.

Yes. The throttle has to be "in correct position" so the engine will know it's safe to start . Is your starter button dirty or wet? See if your neutral safety switch is adjusted properly. Hope this helps but sounds like your able to realize the problem.Last edited by fastback4; 11-24-2015, 06:06 PM. Reason: confusing term - See if your sensor is adjustable
