• Float Level

I have A 1990 ETLD 200 and would like to know the proper float adjustment on the carbs. This motor sat in a boat house for several years and after installing new carb kits Im not sure they are properly set. Can someone help with this matter. The engine runs great from half to full throttle but very sluggish at idle and I have choke it to get up on plane with a lot of smoke at idle. Thanks from Lake Livingston

extremely rare to have to bend the float tabs but very common to have to clean carbs, look into an impeller change also as its probably dried out.

Robert,
I think you are still having carb problems, but not with the floats.
When you did the kit install, did you replace the o-rings at the ends of the high speed jets?
Some carbs have these o-rings, and if they get distorted or cracked, then that can lead to poor performance.
Also, you need to set the pilot screws (idle mixture) on the carbs. This adjustment is different for different carbs. You need a Yamaha shop manual for the spec on your model outboard - will have the float spec also.
Good luck ,
