I have a 2005 f250. I hear a rattle in the top of the engine at 4200 to 4400 rpm. You cannot hear it below or above these ranges.My boat has been at my local yamaha tech's shop going on 4 weeks waiting my turn. The tech has already said he isnt sure what is causing the noise and only hopes he can fix it. The noise sounds like it is in the top of the engine but I have been told it could be down to the lower unit. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for comments cptsolo. YPS showed no codes. Took to the lake with mechanic. Yesterday. Did the same 4200 to 4400 rattle. Took cowling off any you couldn't hear it. My mechanic couldn't figure it out but said the sound was coming from below the engine on the starboard side. Engine runs great. And clean foot oil. -
Maybe that driveshaft bushing?....may need inspection or lubrication?.....Comment
