  • F90 Idle Cut off

I lost accessory power on my 2005 F90 and not being able to find the problem on the water I headed back in about 25 miles. When I got back to the dock and cut back to idle the motor shut off. I tried several times to restart but it kept shutting off. I could rev it up and keep it going at higher RPM's. When I trouble shot the accessory issue I found that the main 20 amp fuse holder has a connecting wire that had separated. I got a new fuse holder and installed it. Everything appeared to work fine and I started it up with the muffs on it and it idled perfectly for about 15 minutes until I cut it off. My question is: Did the loss of accessory power effect the idle?, or do I have another problem? I fish in the Gulf offshore quite a bit and don't want to invite trouble.

    Thank You

My question remains: Could the main accessory power cable have affected the low speed idle. I had a problem with my VST filter a couple of years ago that had similar symptoms. Could a clogged VST cause low speed idle problems and still work fine at higher RPM's? Any help/advice is appreciated.

madharchod, Looks like corrosion through a break in the wiring insulation. Sorry I took so long to reply, however more motor problems. Its been in the shop since last Monday. They were 10 days behind when I took it in. VST problems seem to be a major issue with Yamaha four strokes. If I ever get my boat back I plan on going to a Racor 2 Micron, Fuel water separator. That's seems to help from what I've seen on the internet.
