Correct battey size for 1993 130hp?

I have a 1993 2 stoke 130HP . I have looked through manual and can not fine any info on the correct size/group battery for the motor. Does anyone know the recommended group size battery or a suggestion as to where to find it? Also any specs that are needed, ie. CCA,....?

And/or... what do you currently have and how long did it last for you? It's not going to need to be anything special for that engine. I'll make a "guess" that something in the neighborhood of 600cca should be plenty for that engine. Let's see how close I am once you check the manual! And... it won't hurt to go bigger.

That might be why i cant find it. When i got the motors i ordered a service manual. Is the service manual and owners manual the same? If not i am still overlooking. It is an Odyssey PC1500/34M which says it has 880 CCA. It is probably 10 years old. It has not always been with this motor. Previously I had an Johnson 88HP on it.

Well, an Odyssey is certainly overkill, although a good battery. I've "heard" that the newer ones don't last as long - but only based on reading things on the net here and there. No "facts" to back that up.

I do have lot's and lot's of experience with Dekas (the place I work at part time sells them) and they would be about a 3rd of the cost - probably get a good 5 years out of it - which is good for a wet cell.

Owner's manual and service manual are not the same.

880 CCA exceeds the minimum requirements by a wide margin. Almost any group 24 starting battery is going to meet the Yamaha specifications.

Well, what the heck is going on here. I responded and "guessed" at what a battery capacity may be, yet Boscoe responded before me with a picture from a manual. I KNOW that when I looked at this before, the picture wasn't there - I only saw the recommendation to look in the manual. I think there's something going on with my work computer where it doesn't let pics show. I'm home, now, and can see the pic. Makes my post #3 seem kinda silly!

For what it's worth, I just looked in my SERVICE manual, and it shows the recommended battery (minimum) in the "Specs" section and it is 500CCA.
