1988 70 HP ( 70etlg ) prop shaft play in and out

Hello All!
I am new to this forum and was wondering if anyone had knowledge on this issue. I have an 88 70 HP Yamaha ( 70etlg ). I pulled the prop off and noticed that there was some in and out play on the propeller shaft.
My brother has a 90 HP Yamaha and it (from what I understand) has the same lower unit but has zero play at all.

Does anyone have any insight into this? What part might cause this play?

I have the exact same engine, just checked, no end play.
I'll be watching the responses just in case!

there is no spec on endplay on that unit.
does it work ok?
is there metal on the magnent?
most units have a thrust washer between the prop shaft and rev gear to take up endplay.
