I have a 40hp Yamaha without power trim and want to add it. Is it possible to add power trim to an outboarder without?

While in some cases it might be possible, for the most part it is not. Certainly it won't be cost effective.

Faster, cheaper and simpler to install the below mentioned device between the motor and the boat to get the same results.

Yep that was what i would recommend also.
too many parts would have to be replaced to get the factory stuff to work,cost would be too high, and you would probably break stuff taking it apart costing even more
