No the title is no rodbolt, and that motor does not have a rodbolt

Oh yes you can, just park it in the barn and let it heal up if it is hurting

The title WAS meant for member Rodbolt…

The engine is pretty basic and obviously doesn't have rod bolts, etc.

Figured he'd chime in... Guess not..

          it is stupidly simple.
why waste the time on a weed wacker.
simply toss it in the swamp and go buy one.
in the 5 hours it would take to disassemble and reassemble I could make 500 bucks.
that would pay for a new weed wacker and a cab ride home from the blue crab.

It was a customers. I knew it wasn't worth fixing.

I was curious as to what was wrong with it.

I already have two wackers that run fine.

The post was meant as a joke, guess it wasn't funny to you...
Sorry I wasted your time.. It won't happen again..

              no waste of my time.
I did find it funny and informative.
yes I still do dumb things like rebuilding a mid 80's 9.9 Johnson. guy gave me it in pieces with new wiseco pistons already mounted and the block bored.is it worth my time to assemble it?
most likely not, yet I hate to toss machines.

I do this on the side as a hobby, some extra $.

I'm retired, as I long as keep breathing, they send me a nice fat check...

Anything from mowers, stump grinders, chains saws, if it fills with fuel I work on em.

Had a 8 HP Yam 4 stroke that went under water(not running), had to clean the carb to get it to idle again (owner did most of it-rinsing, etc), ran great once the silt was out of it..
Just fixed an OLD Sears 3 hp air cooled out board engine for a customer...

The solid connecting rod, just reminded of you and thought I would post, but yes stupidly simple.

The biggest selling lawn mower here is Australian designed and built, (since sometime in the '50s) and the later version uses a similar setup, except the crank "pin" is removable with a special socket, it just screws out, the flywheel is underneath, and the pull starter engages on a funny little bit on the crank pin, works very well, easy to fix or rebuild.

Just found a picture of the cast iron block, they had a plastic carb, and everyone hated it, but in reality it was probably the best they ever made, simple to clean, and worked really well.

Just found one with the piston and crank, see that little peg on the crank? that's what the starter engages on, the pull starter is in a cover, sealed by an O ring, you can also see the black plastic carb, and clip on muffler.

Neat, a very simple machine, no overhead valves /cams, should last a long time..

The "hose", apparently attached to the carb, they run that up tp the controls?

                        "Stupidly simple"!

Yes, the throttle cable runs down the inside, and the hose connects to an air filter up high on the handle, away from dust.

Funny thing about that motor, you can remove three bolts that take off the pull starter, and use the special tool (or a hammer and punch) to unscrew the rod "journal" and the piston can be removed, very simple design, there is two big crank bearings on the lower, the bottom one has a seal (of course, being a 2 stroke) the carb can be removed with no tools, it is a bayonet fitting with an O ring, a flat head screw driver, or a coin is all you need to completely dismantle the carb, great for weekend repairs in the backyard.

figured it to be a 2 stroke with the exhaust heading down into the deck like the Lawn Boy did.
also thought about the hose going to an air filter, but never saw one do that
                              very interesting and simple design

Neat. Didn't even think about being a two stroke.

They've been outlawed in the states for literally decades...

Mowers, motorcycles, NOT weed eaters, chain saws etc.

99.9 % of the engines I see need air filters, so good idea on their part... Block looks pretty sturdy too!

Interesting to see different machines from different countries...

Last time I was in Mexico, they had two stroke Yamaha motorcycles (new) for sale as well
as the ORIGINAL VW bug, opposed, air cooled 4 banger that's been outlawed in the states again, for decades...
