can fishing line behind prop stop reverse from working

i lost reverse at the lake got home took prop off had line behind the washer behind it removed it later put the muffs on it tried reverse and it worked is tht normal

I don't much see how the fishing line around the prop shaft could effect the shifting into reverse.....the line didn't damage or cause a leak in the prop shaft seal?....

no there was no leek or damage on the lake it just rived up but after i took the line off n put the muffs on in shifts in fine now havnt got a chance to take it back to the lake yet
