I purchased a Yamaha Trim Harness to install an analog trim gauge on my boat. My problem is I cannot locate where the harness plugs in on the motor. Please help with pictures.
It is presumed that you are not in the US since Yamaha has not offered a 115 here in the states for several years now. A 115 Yamaha is a two stroke, which are all but phased out here.
Yamaha US offers several versions of the F115 e.g. F115LA, F115XA, F115JB, etc. These are all four stroke models. The only information that is available here is for the connection of an F115 using the Yamaha trim/oil harness with Yamaha gauges.
Mine is an four stroke F115LA The boat mfr used analog gauges and did not include a trim gauge. I am wanting to hook up an aftermarket trim gauge. Sorry about thum down icon, old mans eyesight is not that good
I was messin' with you. Trying to get you into the habit of stating the full model identity when you ask about your motor.
God and the boat builder only know how your motor was wired to the gauges. Below is a diagram that depicts the Yamaha way of wiring it to analog gauges. Does the tachometer or boat have warning lights installed? They are integral to certain Yamaha tachometers. If so, then maybe the wiring from the motor to the dash (that is required for a trim gauge) is already installed. If not, you can add it.
Just make sure that whatever gauge you buy is compatible with a Yamaha trim sender.
Oh, the connector will be at the front of the engine pan. Probably buried under some other wires and stuff. It will look like one of the two shown in the photo below. This is not a photo by the way of an F115LA. It is a photo of connectors from an older model back when two connectors were used. Yours uses just one. The wire colors on yours will not be the same either.
