Tach problems

I have 2006 F115
Had it out today
Worked great except tach was reading about 10 rpm too high
WOT and full trim showed well over 7000 and I can tell by the sound that it wasn't
usually about 6100 under those conditons

Thoughts ?

I don't think F115 will go 7000 without shutting down first. Can you list the full engine model number, the Tach type and did you recently change the tach or wiring or is this the original one in the boat and engine?

It's a 2006 F115
Nothing has changed
the rev limiter should have kicked in but I know it was not revving 7000
Inhave had the rev limiter kick in before when I was playing with props
im think the issue must be in the tach

10 RPMs would be hard to see on any tach unless it had a digital display in numbers

just ****ing you chain

might check on settings or move the switches for settings back and forth to help clean up a bad connection if it had one internally

Small slot head screw on back....has about 3 or 4 different settings for different motors.....try switching that screw back and forth a few times to clean contacts, then set at whichever is obviously the correct position.

it may also use dip switchs. depends on the tach.

Took it out again after I noticed this issue and it seems to have corrected itself !
