I was just referring to point and condensers as something most would understand as contacts that opened and closed a lot,and that the engineers used caps to help keep the points from burning up as quickly from arcing .
maybe most people now a days do not know that when the condenser went bad the contacts welded together/ burned up from the arcing .
On some small relays they also ran more than one set of contacts in series in DC circuits to get a larger air gap to break the DC arc
I am not saying any of this was done or should be done on start circuits.
