oil linkage loose?

91 p200tlrp, should the oil linkage be somewhat loose? The oil reservoir overflowed today and I am trying to figure out why.

only thing I can think of to cause tank to overflow is the remote tank transfer pump did not shut off when it should have. Nothing to do with linkage
