  • No Oil from Injection pump, '98 70hp ETLF 2 stroke

    Hi guys,
    I have a '98 Yam. 70 hp 2 stroke.
Started it up and no smoke at all.
quickly pulled an oil line off, no oil coming out.
    Shut down.
Cleaned out the check valves. No obstructions.
Restart, no smoke, pulled line from before check valve, no oil. Quickly shut down.
Is there any way to test the pump?
Could the feed line to the pump be clogged? I'll check this next.
How do I remove the pump?
Is the pump electric? Don't see any wires...
Any help, info or insults would be appreciated.

Yamaha is gear driven off of crankshaft.

Yamaha service manual will have the steps and specs for testing for the correct amount of oil passing through the oil lines. Should be rated in CCs at certain RPMs and for a certain period of time. I am sure different motors are different amounts

Easiest way is to mix a batch of oil and fuel in fuel tank, mark the oil tank level, run motor, and then check level to see if it is dropping

how much oil do you expect to be going through the lines at idle (remember it is mixing oil at a very low rate at idle) and how much smoke do you want to see? before jumping to any conclusions and chasing what could be nothing, do some proper trouble shooting.

No oil from injection pump, '98 70hp ETLF 2 stroke

        Thanks for the suggestions Guys.
I mixed some 2 stroke oil in some gas and ran the motor.
It's smoking a little now, like it used to.
I pulled off an oil line and nothing is coming out.
Is there a filter that may be clogged?
        Where is it?
I cleaned the check valves, no obstructions.
Oil is getting to the pump.
Is there anything I need to know if I need to replace the pump?
        A part number would help.
Thanks in advance, this forum is great for those of us who can't afford a Pro mechanic every time something breaks.
