I never have myself, I use a bait caster.
but have had other people on the front with fly rods.
I think I could get them close enough to pods of reds with a cane pole for fishing some times.

    headed out this morning again.
winds show to be below 10 all morning
just called my brother to get him to meet me at 7:30

I rebuilt my 1997 ez load last summer. I have used Ospho, Corroseal previously with some success. Trailer is rinsed every time its used. I am trying a product called Fluid Film and so far, I'm very impressed. The person that told me about it said to apply it twice per year. So far it's doing better than the other two.

do you clean and dry the trailer before putting it on?
kind of hard to do that at the boat ramp when the boat comes off the trailer

          Update
well it did not last very long.
one bunk bracket started to collapse and cross members were getting very thin from the rust.
Looked around for aluminum trailers, and they wanted $2500 to $3000 to build one.
so I cut the cross members out and replaced them with 3" X 1 1/2" C galvanized channel.
bolted to the old stubs that were not rusty.
Also welded to the tops and bottom of the main frame
          installed adjustable bunk brackets.
still need to install fenders and guide posts/lights

Thanks, I have heard of that before, but never used it.
since this trailer is 21 years old and still around after that long in the salt pond, I will look into that when the rust gets to be a problem again if the boat and motor hold up
