004 VMAx 200 HP OX 66 - Hard start after day gets warmer

A friend of mine has 2004 VMAx 200 HP OX 66 - runs fine early in the day(Florida lakes) until day gets warmer. Starts fine in the morning, runs fine to fishing spot, shuts down, when day gets to around 80 degrees or so outboard fires up but then dies real quick, then is real hard to start(10-20 mins approx) when it does start there is a cloud of smoke, almost like it was flooded. Any ideas? He replaced 3 low pressure pumps and thought that was the problem, still happening.

I also had this problem on the water today! I have the same motor. Any help

I would check the fuel pressure on the rail and check the VST vent line for liquid fuel that would indicate a VST overflow.
