I'm attaching back the upper case assembly to the steering arm and I want to apply Tef-gel to all four bolts (new bolts). The idea is to lubricate the bolts so they don't seize/corrode. Some of this lubrication will reach the threads for sure, should I reduce the torque from the 53 ft-lb? Many bolts in the service manual call for LT-572 but these bolts are not supposed to be sealed... and they rust!

I think you are talking about nuts being fastened to bolts aren't you? Since both are steel, and given the size of the bolts and nuts, I would have no hesitation with the use of Tef-gel while using the published torque value. 53 pound-feet IMO is not a massive amount of torque in the first place.

Yes, the top locking nuts and the lower cap nuts... see attached. This torque would not be much if the bolts are class 8.8 or 10.9 but these are not marked... and they are expensive!Attached Files
