Old Yammie Serial Number

Hi guys:




I’m trying to track down a serial number and date of manufacture for what has been described as and “old” Yamaha. Maybe a ‘80s vintage 150 / 200 HP. Here are all the numbers I can find on the engine:

Flywheel timing pin: 697

Plug cylinder case: 317700

Starter motor: 697-81800-12

Spark coil: CM61-32

Fly wheel: F208-59

Electric modulator: type T1A02-12/604

Engine casing: 66302




If I can nail down year and serial number, I’ll order a parts and a service manual.

Need markings on the carburetor(s) and the CDI.

Thanks again, Boscoe. Okay, the wires from the coils lead to a sort of junction box (the CDI?) but I don’t see any numbers. Two carbs with 69702 printed on them with then, I think, 1C 21 but that part is small and hardly readable. Hope that helps.

Something is not adding up.

A 697 prefix carburetor is for a C55/CV55 HP Yamaha. https://www.boats.net/product/yamaha/697-14501-04-00

A 697-81800-12-00 starter is for a C55/CV55 HP Yamaha. https://www.boats.net/product/yamaha/697-81800-12-00

You say you have a 150/200 HP motor. You mention two carburetors. A 150/200 would have six of them. Three pairs of two. A C55 uses two carburetors only.

I am guessing that you have a C55/CV55 Yamaha or the equivalent thereof.

Hey Boscoe, I’m pretty sure you nailed it. Once again.

Looking at the schematics you supplied, I’m pretty sure that’s the engine in question. Just that some of the parts have been bastardized from other engines and that took me down the garden path.

Thank you for straightening me out. And with the engine model number, I can look for a service manual and rebuild this thing.

I am not sure anyone could mistake a 55 hp for a 150 or 200 hp motor.
what parts of a 150 or 200 did they put on this 55?
