last trip the fuel line came off the no. 3 carb. and fuel was going out down the engine. no fuel to no. 3 piston. did not know this and kept running engine. comp. 120 lb.on all pistons. could there be damage to inside of engine? engine sounds good. does the fact that this engine has the oil going directly into engine helped save the power head. engine sounds good. no unusual sounds.

thanks for the info. i was hoping it was fine. Best engine i have ever owned. Mounted on a bayliner trophy 1994 17.3 cc. except for a rough idle after fuel line came loose boat would do 39 mph. this is the normal speed of this rig. was running on 2 pistons. thanks again. larryComment

you are right. could have been a lot worse. had carbs rebuilt about 3 months earlier. had built in tank cleaned and thought the sending unit was not set right as the gauge showed falling amount of gas. barely made it in,tank empty after return to dock. LarryComment

only when i picked up boat and was securing engine,i noticed paint on outside of engine was burnt. i thought at first engine had run hot. but there was no alarm or rise in temp. on gauge. once home checked comp. all was fine. then noticed a small amount of a liquid in back of power head turned out to be gas. pumped ball and out comes gas from carb. area. removed oil tank and put hose back on carb no. 3 added tyrap with clip. no more loss of gas. was very windy that day and never did any see any gas on water. did mostly running and gas was spread out.Comment
