  • 4 HP 1986 drive shaft stuck in crank

I tried to take off the lower unit, but the drive shaft was stuck in the crank. After some hard work, it all came off except the shaft that still was in the crank.

Of course i broke the impeller housing, but thats not my problem.

When I finally got the drive shaft out, some kind of rubber bushing came out with it. Where is this bushing suppose to sit? I cant find it on the microfiche? Is it inside nr 16 on the picture?

Looks like your "rubber bushing" (probably a seal) is part of that larger part (same part #). It appears to be held in with one bolt and washer.

Removing that bolt/washer and piece, I suspect would verify if that's the issue. Being its the last part for the drive shaft to clear, I again, suspect your correct, that "bushing and the art still bolted in, is the same part,(or should be).

    Rodbolt should chime in..
