Just bought a runabout with a 25 eshr with a tiller and want to switch to a remote. Will a 703 work? I can’t find info on push vs pull throttle and want to be sure before buying. Also - is it really plug and play and can the tiller stay just in case it’s a fail?

The tiller handle can stay but the control cables will need to be disconnected. Why leave it on the motor "in case it's a fail"? Do you know how many billions of remote con*****ed Yamaha's there are that don't have a tiller handle for back up steering?
The 25 HP model is a push-to-open type. Most any 703 control box will work. It can be converted from pull-to-open to push-to-open if necessary.
I don't see it being "plug and play'. Parts need to be added to the motor for remote control of the steering and for remote control of the throttle and shift. Remote control starting and stopping also if you want that.
