controls and tiller on 15hp Yamaha?

I have a 1987 15hp yamaha, tiller steering. I want to hook up engine controls. Yamaha sells a kit to hook up the cables. My question is: can you still use the tiller, if you unhook the cables?
The parts diagram of the kit shows linkage rods and bellcranks, and wonder if these replace the ones used for the tiller steering. I have it on a 14' runabout, and want to be able to use it with the tiller on my Avon inflatible, with the tiller steering.

You can only have one way either remote throttle and shift or tiller handle throttle and shift.
