I just bought a brand new f8 Yamaha to replace my old 2-stroke 01' mercury. I use the motor on my drifter for side drifting, my issue with the motor is the only way for me to get the motor to start first pull is I have to turn the throttle well past the supposed starting position. This obviously excludes first thing in the morning, I am still having this issue well into my fishing day. Water temp is 42 degrees, outside temp is 65, and altitude is around 600'. It is a brand new tank and hose as well. Any suggestions? Are the four strokes just a little more finicky? Any help is much appreciated, hope im just being paranoid.
