      www.chriscarsonmarine.com for a rebuild/remanufacture.

      www.boats.net for a new block.

If we knew the model of the motor we could tell you if parts are available from Yamaha.

cost effective is a strange way of wording cheaper maybe

, but are you looking for what is readily available close to you?

Boscoe posted places to look with your proper model #

                That's JUST THE CRANKCASE..

No crankshaft, pistons, rods, bearings, etc. (Not even a short block-Just the empty block)

Boscoe and RB would know, but I've never seen a powerhead (complete) in the "parts section". But for warranty work, they are available for at least dealers..

If you are talking about what is known as a "dressed power head" they are not available from Yamaha as a spare part. Dressed meaning that it has everything on it that one would see if they removed the cowl from a brand new motor.

What Yamaha has been known to do is to take a brand new motor, remove the dressed power head, and send it to a dealers facility for a Yamaha mechanic to install same.

New power heads (undressed) appear to now be obsolete. No longer available from Yamaha. Part number 66X-W0090-15-1S that is, if that is the one that is applicable to your model.

I still have no idea what model motor we are talking about. You guys are so tight with models you should work for the White House to help stop leaks.
