  • How do i read hours on my 115.??

Ok... need help... new to Yamaha outboard motors. I would like to read the engine hours so that i can keep track of them. But i do not know how to go about doing this.
is there a cable I can get to adapt to my automotive scanner and use that? OR do I need to get something completely different??? I've been searching the net and I can't figure out what to get...

    My Model is F115XB
    Manufac. Date: 07/2016

please be more specific about the engine year/model - "115" isn't enough to get you an answer

        Ah! ok
        so several options

for the total operating hours, you can have that displayed continuously, either

        - on a Yamaha "Command Link" tachometer (I'm assuming you don't already have that)
        or
        - on a NMEA 2000 capable GPS/chartplotter

now , if you want to see the total operating hours broken down by 1000 rpm ranges -
you will need to connect a laptop running Yamaha Diagnostic Software

if it is possible to communicate to the engine's data port with an automotive OBDI scanner,
I have not heard of it
